When you want something easy to use right out of the box, that's great for the kids (of any age
) and can be used on almost any patch of water, then this is a great little boat to consider.
One of the best things about it is how it comes with everything you need right in the box. Quick and easy to set up, the boat's battery even has enough charge for you to give it a quick test drive in the neighbour's backyard pool, before you have to pop it on for a full charge.
I really like the safety cut-out feature in this boat... The propeller shaft MUST be in the water, or the motor won't activate. Making the water in which you are driving it a vital part of the power circuit is such a brilliant idea!
The boat, with the battery on board, only weighs a svelte 336 grams, meaning if you drive it right on slightly choppy water, it will give you some nice air-time... But be warned that because of the safety cut-out system, if it flips and turns turtle on you, you'll have to wade out and rescue it. So, maybe don't drive it in any waterway you aren't prepared to swim in yourself.
Overall, for under a hundred, this is a very affordable and nifty boat to play with. There are models out there that are designed and weighted so that they will automatically right themselves in the water, but the added pricetag for this outweighs the benefits for me, so this boat ticks pretty much all the boxes for me, in terms of an inexpensive toy I can let the kids play with in confidence.
