Having enjoyed a few of George Michael's earlier songs, I decided to give this CD a go, and see how his music had changed.
I must say this CD is not one that will be played very often by me. A lot more "mellow" than his earlier stuff, it'd be alright for background music while I was working on the computer or reading, but only if I didn't really want to actually listen to what was playing on the CD player.
An alright CD.. but nothing worth "writing home about" as they say.
Well, what do you say about an album that took 5 years to make, is destined to be his last, and is so full of personal commentary that you can't help but feel he's telling you a life story.
So, destined to be his last? Sure seems like it, with reports that any future songs he releases, he plans to release FREE ONLINE! So if nothing else, this could become a collectors item, and maybe even appreciate in value, unlike most music that's not on vinyl.
The songs come in many flavours, from the boppy to the raunchy, moody to bouncy, introspective to announcement. There's got to be at least 2 tracks on here to suit anyone's taste. I don't care what you are into, if you can bring yourself to listen to a George Michael CD (and it's not that big a leap after all, he's quite talented) then you're going to enjoy this album to some degree.
Overall, quite a stunning release from an artist that has been with us, in and out of sight, for so many years. Was good to listen to, will probably not be on the shelf often enough to gather much dust, and I sure hope he's VERY public about his future release plans, because George Michael is still a talent to watch in the modern music industry.
