I have always been a fan of cartoons and animated shows, since having children my love for these types of shows has grown. It has been hard in the past, to find a show that all three of my children would watch happily, however since we started watching Paw Patrol, I can always guarantee there will be silence while they are captivated by each episode. When I saw that 'Paw Patrol: Summer Rescues' was available to request, I quickly put in my request and hoped to be chosen, thankfully we were lucky enough to be able to add this to our large Paw Patrol collection.

On the day that the DVD arrived it was a stifling hot day, thankfully watching a new DVD was enough incentive for the children to come inside. On the cover of the DVD we see 4 of the pups at the beach playing in the waves, on the reverse side you can see Chase, Marshall, and Rubble riding a wave on a surfboard, with Sky flying overhead. There are 8 episodes of Paw Patrol on the disc, with a bonus episode of Shimmer & Shine included, the disc runs for 94 minutes approximately. Just from reading the episode titles, my children were most interested by 'Pups Save the Fireworks' as they thought it sounded like the most exciting one.

I popped the disc into the player and we sat down together to see who the pups would rescue from various predicaments. As soon as the identifiable theme song started to play, all three children were mesmerized. Sure enough the fireworks episode was the favourite, especially with the mischievous piglets running around. The bright, vibrant colours are eye-catching and they make it easy to continue watching numerous episodes. Each episode on this disc had the children in fits of laughter for various reasons, I must admit I found myself laughing as well. I like Paw Patrol because there is a strong theme throughout of teamwork to solve problems, and also kindness and friendship.

The bonus episode included was an excellent addition to watch after the conclusion of Paw Patrol. The two genies are cute and good at solving problems with magic. My children enjoyed this episode and I think it would be targeted at children 3 - 7 years of age roughly. The bright colours suit the story-line which flows smoothly, and the characters are believable, what child doesn't like magic?

Overall I think the Paw Patrol episodes keep getting better and better with each DVD released, the children's attention was focused for the entire duration. I think this is best targeted at 2 - 6 year olds (in saying that though my 7 year old thoroughly enjoyed it.) We can't wait to see what adventures the Paw Patrol and Ryder go on next.
