As soon as I received Herr's Pepper Jack cheese curls the packaging stood out with its vibrant red hue that made me automatically assume that these curls were going to have a spicy kick to them. I opened up the bag and had a whiff of the aroma which was a bold cheesy and slightly peppery smell to it.
The curls are rather large at around one and a half centimetres thick and roughly 5 centimetres long so the flavour has to carry the curl through or it risks being too bland and I can tell you that the flavour really does its job here.
You will notice the green and red specks covering the curl among the cheese powdering and these are the little pepper specks and boy are they bursting with flavor that makes these curls shine. When you first try one the cheese flavour is right there, centre-front but then those pepper specks jump forward and they give you a little punch to the taste buds saying they are the main attraction here and for me that is the case as I am a fan of spice and herbs.
The curls have a crisp sharp feel to them when first biting in but then the centre is rather soft and melts away easily which I quite liked. My two boys aged ten and twelve absolutely loved these and I was lucky to get at least a handful out of the bag before they demolished it and no sooner than the packet was finished they were asking where can we go to get more.
If you like snacks that have good flavor and leave you feeling quite satisfied then these are perfect to have on hand. I went looking to find where I could get some more of these and found myself on Herr's website and they have a lot of interesting flavours that now I have to somehow get my hands on also.

We've thought outside the box with a stuffing-inspired crisp packed full of our not-so-secret natural herbs and spices. Enjoy the subtle notes of sage, onion & sprinkle of maple sugar, while nutritional yeast gives the crisps an umami note!
