I have a son who is a bookworm and he will read almost anything at all so when I saw this for review I thought it would be perfect to keep him busy for a while. When my parcel arrived he was so excited to see the Minecraft book that he wanted to read it immediately.
The book is in chapters so that the kids can stop reading when necessary and start again with equal ease. The chapters are short so that the child doesn't get bored and lose interest but for the parents (yes I did read it to see what all the fuss was about) I found it a bit confusing as I haven't read any of the previous books and I wasn't sure who was human and it took me a while to figure things out. There aren't any long and complicated words which is great as a lot of kids find that they can't understand some of the words used.
My son was excited because it is minecraft and a book. He does get distracted easily (just ask his teacher) so this was perfect for him. I am going to see if I can find some of the other books as anything that takes his attention and keeps him reading is always a bonus in my books.
My 8yr old son has just starting reading chapter books so when I saw this book come up for review I was quick to request it. I find it quite hard to find books he's into but what boy wasn't taken with the minecraft stage so to find a book with these characters was awesome.
Zombie goes to camp is number 6 in the series and I believe they are up to number 7 which I saw in the latest Lucky book club my kids brought home. This book is based on a boy called Zack Zombie who is being sent to camp by his parents. He doesn't want to go as he's scared that the camp counsellors are brain eating humans and the nurse is a witch, he would rather stay home playing video games and eating cake for the whole school holidays instead. But in the end he decides to go so he can get away from his annoying brother and to look after his mate Creepy who gets lonely. The book goes on to tell the adventures they get up to and in the end he loves it so much that he can't wait to go back next year.
I would definitely recommend this series for all kids particularly boys who enjoy reading chapter books. This book is 156 pages but is broken down into chapters so they can read over a period of time. My son now has two of these and even wanted to spend his OWN money to buy more that's a huge recommendation
just there. I've seen that you can get these books through Scholastics with the Lucky Book clubs for a bargain.
