Considerably darker than I was expecting and dealing with issues that I don't think are appropriate for younger audiences. I was basically really unimpressed with this movie. I expected so much more. Reading the blog for the movie it sounded entertaining and fun for the kids but instead it dealt with issues like suicide and mentally abuse and was not light and fluffy like I was assuming it would be. The dwarfs where annoying and just silly and as they where the main characters it became tiresome and in the end I could not wait for the movie to finish.
I have a four year old and a seven year old and although they both sat through the whole movie my youngest did complain a couple of times and asked if she had to watch the movie to the end, I told her she didn't and she walked away only to return shortly after with her daddy and she sat on his lap and watched the rest of it.
I would happily of turned the movie off but as it was a review movie I felt obliged to watch to the end. The only really good thing I can say is Bobo learnt how to tie his shoelace to which my eldest who we have been trying to teach said 'oh that looks so easy' so I was glad of that.
The animation was terrible and just freaky and not at all done like I am used to. I found the dwarfs just weird and I am sure I will have nightmares of Dellamorta as her voice and her body where just terrifying. I could not understand why some of the characters remained the same with the names we are used to but they changed the dwarfs name to Speedy, Sunny, Cloudy and Bobo and Sleeping Beauty is now called Rose and her boyfriend is called Jake (aka Titatanic names) but everyone else remained untouched like Snow White and Puss 'n' Boots it was just random and unnecessary.
I am definitely in no rush to ever watch again and in all honesty I don't recommend anyone watches it unless you like twisted movies from Germany. It definitely is not for younger children like mine but more so for pre-teens or older but again I would not recommend.
