A cheeky picture book fun from the Minions movie.
What's naughty but nice? Those wicked little Minions. Their appetite for evil is almost as big as their taste for yummy bapples. (But that doesn't stop us chuckling at them.) Now these cute evil monsters need an evil master. Trouble is, their leaders rarely live that long. They've killed Dracula. Napoleon. And lots of cursed Egyptian pharaohs. (They'd be handy in a zombie apocalypse.) Will they ever find their perfect villain?

My kids and I are big fans of the Despicable Me movies, in particular we love the little minion characters so I was really excited when I saw this book up for review. My son is a bit too little to sit through a whole movie at the cinemas so we'll wait for it to be available on DVD before we buy it but it's really cool to be able to read my kids a book which is based on the movie and I can't wait to see how it relates to the movie - although based on the review below, I think it's only a part of the movie that is represented in this book.
When I showed my daughter the book that we were going to read that night she was so excited, she recognised the minions from one of her favourite movies. She loved the story and all the pictures in the book and asked if she could bring it into daycare the next day to show her friends and get the teachers to read it again at mat time. The reports I heard back from the teachers were all positive and some of the kids had recognised the story from the actual movie.
Since we received this book a week ago I've had to read it 10 times and the story hasn't gotten boring yet, there are heaps of different images to look at on the page and every time we read it my daughter points out something different. I think if you have or know a child who loves the minions characters then this book is a must have.
I got to take the kids to see Minions at the movies just a couple of days before it was released to the general public and they all thoroughly enjoyed the movie so when they saw this book arrive in the mail for us to review they were really excited and I lost sight of the book for the last week! This book is based upon a small part of the book where Bob accidentally becomes King and it was one of my favorite parts of the film, in fact, if you ask the kids which part of this book is their favorite part... "King Bob!!!!"
The books quotes the film word for word throughout, which is always a plus and it follows the movie so the kids were loving me reading it out to them and they were busy pointing out at the book going "I remember that!" and kept telling me what was going to happen next in the book. The pictures are bright and vibrant and it really did have me falling more in love with Bob, he's deffinatly made out to be the cutest and funniest of the minions.
If you like the films then you really can't go wrong with reading this book to the family, my kids love it and they've already run off with it again.
