The Polar Express product reviews

Journey Beyond Your Imagination.

Director Robert Zemeckis makes the best of both worlds in this big-screen adaptation of Chris Van Allsburg's books, as although the film is computer generated, the characters are all modelled on real human performances. A boy who doubts the magic of Christmas is taken on a train ride to the North Pole to meet Santa Claus (Tom Hanks).

I went and saw this with my mother when it came out and I so enjoyed it that I knew it was one that I simply had to own on DVD and when we begun our Christmas tradition a couple of years ago (watching one Christmas movie per night the weeks before Christmas day) this has been one we have watched each year. A young boy, on the cusp of no longer believing in Santa etc ends up on a magical train ride to the North Pole to meet Santa . This is a great story about imagination and for those who believe in it, the magic of Christmas.

The animation was strange to get used to the first time I watched it, but by the time the movie was over it wasn't so hard. Tom Hanks plays a couple of characters in this movie, and even has a musical number... I did find the puppet marionettes a bit creepy and spooky, but then again they are something that I found spooky and creepy for many many years, so that wasn't really a surprise. Some of the scenes are fantastic, such as the kids having to tie themselves to the front of the train as it goes speeding away on some very steep tracks.

A fun Christmas movie and it is one that the kids love.
