That is NOT a Good Idea product reviews

That Is Not a Good Idea! is a hilarious, interactive picture book from bestselling author and illustrator Mo Willems, the creator of books like Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, the Knuffle Bunny series, the Elephant and Piggie series, Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs, and many other new classics.

Inspired by the evil villains and innocent damsels of silent movies, Willems tells the tale of a hungry fox who invites a plump goose to dinner. As with the beloved Pigeon books, kids will be calling out the signature refrain and begging for repeated readings. The funny details in the full-color illustrations by three-time Caldecott Honoree Mo Willems will bring nonstop laughter to story time.

We go to the library almost once a week and during school time more than that, and typically they'll just grab three books off the shelves and it is always quite random if we end up with a really good book and this was one of those times.

My first thoughts on this book is that the illustrations weren't that great, they didn't look like much, no vibrant colors and it didn't really catch my eye at all so it kind of ended up at the bottom of the pile and I didn't pay it any attention but tonight my five year old brought it over to me asking me to read it and so I did. Well, the illustrations may not have looked like much on the front cover, but once I opened it up and actually read it with the kids... It was a fun book and well worth the read.

Delving into the book this easily reminds me of the silent movies, the dialogue between the fox and the goose doesn't happen on the page with them, it happens on its own page, in white with a black background with swirls and scrolling around the edges. The chicks pop up now and then with their warning and the ending certainly wasn't what I was expecting. My kids wanted me to read it again right away so it was certainly a great book in the end.

Written by Shaun Barnett

Product image for Castle GrimAre there still people out there, in the rest of the world? For decades there has been nothing. No ships, no messages, nothing but floating debris.

In a future dystopia with no internet or global communications, where books can no longer be made and have become invaluable, twelve-year-old Herman's life is turned upside down when he is sent off to the orphanage known as Castle Grim. Surrounded by pirates and stalked by kidnappers ... more...
