Recorded live at London's Hammersmith Apollo
In his comedy show "Russell Brand: Messiah Complex" Russell Brand questions the value of heroes and leaders. 'Messiah Complex' is a disorder where sufferers think they might be the messiah. Did Jesus have it? What about Che Guevara, Gandhi, Malcolm X and Hitler?
All these men have shaped our lives and influenced the way we think. Their images are used to represent ideas that often do not relate to them at all. Would Gandhi be into Apple? Would Che Guevara endorse Madonna? Would Jesus be into Christianity?
Brand's trademark humour will have you laughing, yet questioning our modern world, in this latest stand up DVD.

I love Russell Brand as a comedian, so was quite excited to be offered the opportunity to review this DVD. I love his wit, his charm, his craziness, his way of including real life events into his comedy act, and I especially love his accent.
This DVD is like most other live comedy acts. Its set on a stage and is just a filming of one of their live performances. I guess this is what makes for fantastic comedy. Not only do you get to watch a live comedy show in the comfort of your own home, but you also get to watch the interactions between comedian and audience. Russell Brand interacts with his audience like no other, and if he ends up offending someone in the process...so be it.
I admit there were times through-out this DVD where I thought, oh wow I must google that and see how much of what he just said is true. This was especially so for the parts about Ghandi and Hitler. I really needed to know if the material used was true or just made up for entertainment purposes. There were also many moments, in fact a lot more than I expected, where I sat, jaw-dropped, and shocked at what had just been said. I am not a prude by any means but my morals always come into play no matter how good or funny a story or joke is. I just can not help myself lol
Russell Brands, The Messiah Complex, is an awesome live show. There are many many laughs to be had but if you are easily offended or shocked, or can not handle foul language, then perhaps this DVD is not for you. However in saying that, we all know that comedy shows are shrouded in foul language and easily offendable material, it is what makes for the most brilliant comedians. If you can not shock your audience and make them laugh at things they normally would not, then you are not a true comedian.
I would buy this DVD, it is a brilliant price and a good source of entertainment. I have had it a week and watched it three times already and yrs I will watch it many more times yet :)

Many tales have been told of Africa but this is the intimate story of the animal families who live there, told from inside their world. A drama where the characters' lives are as entwined as their stories; it plays out across the Serengeti's magnificent Pride Lands. There's passion and devotion, friendship and loss, jealousy and rivalry, tragedy and ultimately triumph. For the characters it is an emotional story of a year that ... more...
