Lothlorien Feijoa Still Wine product reviews

Proud to promote NZ productsThis crisp dry wine has a delicate feijoa bouquet with a clean refreshing finish. Serve well chilled. We create our wine amongst the orchards and forests of Lothlorien which is nestled in subtropical Ahuroa Valley, where we have been growing organically since 1971.

We are huge Feijoa fans in this house. This extends to wines as well, and having tried a Lothlorien bubbly a few months back, I was really keen to get my hands on more of the range. This still wine is the latest new release for Lothlorien. They haven't previously done a still wine. The colour is good. It looks crisp, against the cool blue of the wine label. I just love the Lothlorien branding, the tree motif is so inviting.

The bouquet you get when you open the bottle is like fresh feijoa. It smells a little floral, but that's to be expected in a feijoa wine. The wine itself has a feijoa flavour with a tartness. It's like they have used the whole fruit, skin and all to get that feijoa taste. The end notes are floral with a hint of apple. For me it was a little bit too sour, but my husband adored it and would have happily finished the bottle himself.

After sharing a few glasses of this wine together, I decided to try baking with it. I made a feijoa and chocolate cake batter and turned this into muffins. We had these warm for dessert and then I took some to work with me the next day. People at work, who love feijoa were amazed by the flavour and asked me how I had sourced feijoa out of season. They thought the idea of using wine to get the flavour was quite clever.

$16 is a respectable price for a bottle of wine. When you consider it's locally made and sourced. The wine is certified organic and it's well presented. It would make a great gift or just a lovely addition to a special meal. I would definitely consider purchasing this one again, since my husband enjoyed it so much.
