My daughters school photos have always been awfully boring and just like the plain green screen portraits that I had when I was younger. As such I have always only bought the class photo and if I had portraits done I would go elsewhere. This year her school changed photographers to Dean Preston from Life By Lens School Life Photography and I was so impressed.
Gone are the green screens, there wasn't a green screen in sight! The photos were taken outdoors and had a natural look to them rather than a commercially posed generic shot. I bought a combo package which included 3 individual shots of my daughter and a class photo for only $26 so really reasonably priced too, and you could chose if you wanted black and white or colour for the individual shots. If you wanted them on a disc too you could pay extra bringing the total to $50 so it is really good value for money.
The individual photos of my daughter were taken outside, one of them she was hugging a tree in a very natural pose and it was a beautiful shot of her. Another she was sitting under a tree looking to one side which was again a very natural pose that captured her beautifully. It just blew all perceptions of school photography out the window and I would love for Dean to do photos of my son too as the image quality is just exceptional.
