Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 product reviews

In Red Alert 3, the desperate leadership of a doomed Soviet Union travels back in time to change history and restore the glory of Mother Russia. The time travel mission goes awry, creating an alternate timeline where technology has followed an entirely different evolution, a new superpower has been thrust on to the world stage, and World War III is raging. The Empire of the Rising Sun has risen in the East, making World War III a three-way struggle between the Soviets, the Allies, and the Empire with armies fielding wacky and wonderful weapons and technologies like Tesla coils, heavily armed War Blimps, teleportation, armored bears, intelligent dolphins, floating island fortresses, and transforming tanks.

Red Alert 3 asks the question "What If?" What if every bizarre research project and technology experiment for the last 70 years had actually borne fruit? What if the Philadelphia Experiment, time travel theory, teleportation, invisibility, Tesla technology, and a hundred other intriguing research projects had all paid off and gone mainstream? What if the Soviet Union survived and thrived; what would it look like 10 years in the future? What if the Japanese Empire had never fallen and instead became the ultimate high-tech military superpower? The end result is an imaginative and playful vision of an alternate future filled with possibility.

Ever wondered what would have happened had Soviet Russia manage to build a time machine, go back in time and cosy on up to Albert Einstein thereby changing the future? Well, according to EA Games the answer is all women in the armed forces would wear clothes to show off as much cleavage as possible, war between the Allies, Soviets, and Japanese would continue to rage and attack bears and dolphins would play an integral part in conflicts. It's very tongue-in-cheek, told through live action cut-scenes and mid-battle updates that will entertain you in the way b-movies on the Sci-Fi channel do.

Sadly, whilst expecting great gameplay, Command and Conquer Red Alert 3 fails to deliver. At points during your gameplay you will have a comrade pop up on screen to congratulate you on a job well done or to tell you to hurry up, or an enemy will pop up threatening you and telling you that you cannot possibly win. Whilst that in itself isn't bad, it's the fact that when it happens, it covers your mini map, putting you at a disadvantage for however long they talk to you.

The best part about this game? The weird and sometimes wacky movie clips between play. Well, that, and Tim Curry with a russian accent.

Product reviews for listing 3817: Burnout Revenge
Developed by EA Games

Product image for Burnout RevengeThis time it's not about winning. It's not about riding on dubs or gaudy neon lights. It's about an utter disregard for the rules of road and total domination. This time it's personal. This time it's about revenge.

The sequel to 2004's racing game of the year, Burnout: Revenge straps gamers into the fastest, most dangerous racer on the road. Fight dirty or go down in flames - the only rule is complete ... more...
