This is a colourful and thoughtfully illustrated book about little Princess Spaghetti. Her world is one of cupcakes and sweets and tea party items. ie a pirate ship out of a teapot, houses in cupcakes, icecream islands etc.

Princess Spaghetti is a very no-nosense little princess who has no problems dealing with mean pirates and converting them into engaging in meaningful activity!! She would make a great Minister of Justice!! Such a funny and values based story.

Miss Three and Miss Five liked this and it is aimed perfectly at their level.

I am not sure this is great value for money but if you see it on special snap it up as a great alternative to Disney Princesses and Fairies!

To an adult mind, this story of Princess Spaghetti and the pirates is utterly madcap and insane nonsense, which of course is the appeal to Miss 5. Given she adores anything with princesses, it was really a given that this was going to be a hit. The silly names and story makes this a story that she loved reading and I'm sure will appeal to many other kids too.

The pictures that accompany the words are a total riot of colour and action, Miss 5 loves looking at the pictures just as much as hearing the story and she loves seeing all the different things she can find in the pages. Apparently the cat is one of the things she LOVED about the whole book.

Something that will no doubt appeal to parents avoiding the Disney Princesses, is that Princess Spaghetti obviously has spunk, charm and confidence, she is independent and has no issues standing up against what is wrong (in this case pointing out that roller skating is much better than stealing!). I know with recent ongoing debates over the messages portrayed by other princesses that these messages would no doubt be more gratefully received.

So while I may not necessarily have a child's ability to fully enjoy the fun and madness of the story, I have the adults ability to see the fun and pleasure Miss 5 is getting from it. A big YAY I LOVE IT from Miss 5!
