It never ceases to amaze me how industrious we humans can be when we set our minds to it. Like all things, we can use the fruits of our labours for good or evil, but that should never stop the appreciation of the tools themselves.
I was once more fascinated by the sheer size of the machine we build and use, but none amazed me more than the C5 Galaxy. An aircraft designed and built decades ago, still in active use today, moving some of the biggest cargo around the world. Fleets of them still plow the airways on a daily basis!
The Ekati diamond mine, way up north above Canada, was also very impressive. Not only do they run all year round, but they are only able to get supplies run in for a short patch each year in the middle of the harshest patch of winter, when the roadway freezes hard enough to support the weight of the trucks. At all other times of the year, the roadway is literally a series of lakes and swamps! This is the mine that the TV series "Ice Road Truckers" was based around.
Rotterdam is an amazing seaport, and one that shares a facility with only one other port in the world, the ability to accept and offload some of the world's biggest cargo ships. Even one that needs to sink to offload it's cargo!
Presented in a fairly typical NatGeo style, with good narration and lots of information thrown in, yet still accessible to younger viewers, this is one that I plan to keep handy in the 'Reference' shelf of the DVD cabinet, for use when the younger family members drop around to visit.
All in all, a most excellent DVD to have on hand, at a very affordable price.

Product reviews for listing 5665: Doctor Who: Season Two -  Type of Show: Sci-Fi

Product image for Doctor Who: Season TwoThis is the first series to feature David Tennant as the tenth incarnation of the Doctor, an alien Time Lord who travels through time and space in his TARDIS, which appears to be a British police box on the outside.

He continues to travel with his companion Rose Tyler (Billie Piper), with whom he has grown increasingly attached. They also briefly travel with Rose's boyfriend Mickey Smith (Noel Clarke), and Camille Coduri reprises her role as Rose's mother Jackie. The series is connected by a loose story arc consisting of the recurring word "Torchwood".
