I came across this book at the most perfect time! When my little girl started waking in the night and jumping in to Mum and Dad's bed.
This is a wonderfully written children's book. It has a nice and easy storyline, with nice bright big pictures in it which was very appealling to my nearly 3 yr old. I think the choosing of the size of the font in the book was neat too, as it's big enough to attract attention to it, but also small enough to make way for the illustrations.
This is now a nightly read book, to help calm her fears of the dark. Unfortunately for me, my girl isn't as quick at learning as Ed, as i'm still no closer to getting her to stay in her own bed all night as yet. Maybe tonight is the beginning of the end. :)

Small Shen is the amazing story of Gold - a stone spirit and a chronic troublemaker in the court of the great Gods of Chinese mythology. A mix of Kylie Chan's brilliant storytelling and Queenie Chan's beautiful illustrations, Small Shen is a fantastic treat for fans of White Tiger. Readers will be thrilled to discover the events leading up to John Chen and Emma Donahoe's story in this wonderful prequel.
