My first impression of the Cruzer Contour USB Drive was 'stylish, very stylish' and then once I had tried the unique slider USB connector was even more impressed, the slider design on this is the best I have seen so far of all those using a slide in/out USB connector, it has the feel of being well constructed and yet it works so very easily. The overall design of the cruzer has been well thought out and it has a sense of solidness and durability to its total construction.
Having previously tested another ReadyBoost device from a different manufacturer I decided to compare this with the other to see if there was any difference in the ReadyBoost performance. Whilst I could not discern any noticeable difference in the performance increase between the two with the memory allocation I chose, the Sandisk offering would be the better of the two purely from having 8 times more space available for ReadyBoost to utilise.
However the U3 side of things is a different kettle of fish as this is my first experience at using a U3 device. And having tried and tested the U3 functionality I must say I am hooked. The preinstalled U3 programs are handy and well thought out, and the ability to download free/or purchase additional U3 content through the U3 menu itself is also very handy.
The data transfer side of things also impressed me as well, with a top download speed of 26MB/s and a top upload speed of 18MB/s (which is very respectable indeed
). Combined with a 8GB storage capacity makes this a very worthwhile product indeed.
