We bought some of these for Miss 4.5 some time ago and only recently were they finally exhausted. She loved drawing with them, where easy for her to handle and were the first she reached for every time. Can't really go past that seal of approval!
As a parent I love the range of colours they come in, as well as the fact that they don't break due to them being encased. I'm also sure the lids would be a bonus for not getting crayon on the carpet but sadly we're still working on the concept of lids with Miss 4.5.
Will definitely get these again.
I liked it that when you ran out you could twist the pen and make more crayon come out to use. I could draw anything I liked with them because of the colours. They are smooth and easy to use, I didn't have to push really hard. If I did, then I would run out fast. If I was given enough money I would go out and buy some more. I liked the way they were made.
It has been many, many years since I last played with crayons... and even back then I didn't really like the finish they gave. Hard, unyeilding coloured wax that gave an irregular, uneven finish and often caused thinner papers to tear, and thicker ones to distort... but now, the revolution has come about and it comes in a funky little pen with a twist.
Like your average gluestick, or lipstick (as one overly observant young lady pointed out to me), these crayon pens contain a solid stick of crayon, which is dispensed by twisting the small knob at the base of each pen body. This means that as you use up the crayon, more is easily available, sheltered within the shell, safe from staining fingers or clothes.
Now, the formulation of the crayon itself is also new and quite unique. Smooth as silk, it glides on evenly, effortlessly, and with a coverage second to none. They are so effective, absolutely no extra pressure is required. You can literally draw with them using only their own weight as applied pressure! To test and prove this, I drew a little picture on the back of my young son's hand, and he hardly felt anything at all.
Overall, these are probably the most significant advance in crayons since their invention. Kids are going to love this stuff... it's like crayons merged with coloured pencils, and created a super-hybrid. The price is good, the crayons are great, and the drawings kids will make with them will be astounding. If your little ones enjoy drawing, this could be a winning contender for the next birthday or christmas present.
