BEST AND BRAVEST: - Kiwis Awarded The Victoria Cross product reviews

The Victoria Cross is the highest military award for bravery in the Commonwealth, and has been won by some of our best and bravest. This book honours their memory.

Here are the stories of the 26 men who won the VC in the First World War and the Second World War - our Kiwi fighting heroes. Some are famous, and some have been forgotten, but their stories deserve to be remembered.

Read about Jimmy Ward, who crawled across a burning bomber wing to put out a fire while flying over the English Channell, and learn about Clive Hulme's daring raids behind enemy lines, Moananui-a-Kiwa Ngarimu's defence against huge odds and Charles Upham's awe-inspiring courage under fire. Find out about the Great Escaper, and the Submarine Hunter, and the soldier who won a VC for running away!

And there's more - lots of useful information about Army and Air Force ranks, units and the weapons used by our Best and Bravest in the two world wars.

This book is hugely informative, great for those who are interested in military history. It tells in detail the stories of these 26 heroes.

It's detailed, in short stories, short enough, to give the reader a good idea of what happened, containing quotes from actual reports, giving detail of their whole life, instead of just the one engagements that one them the VC, but not long enough to send the reader to sleep.

This book is most definitely value for money, without a doubt believable, and hard to put down. Only took me a couple of days to read through its 175 pages, at work, on the way to work, and in bed, after work.

Overall, a very interesting, fact packed book, appealing to those interested in NZ's Military history.
