Salted caramel seems to be all the rage at the moment with new products popping up all over the place; ice cream, biscuits, chocolate. So when Whittaker released their artisan range of chocolate I expected big, no great, things about the Marlborough sea salt and caramel brittle flavored chocolate. Like the others in the range, the packaging is awesome. Really eye catching and funky. This range has my favorite packaging of all chocolate. Top of the line!
You open the fancy cardboard package, remove the foil wrapper and you are greeted by this super thin block of chocolate, which to be honest makes you feel disappointed by the size. Each block is made up of these large squares of chocolate with cool pictures. This particular flavor has large pieces of sea salt mixed in, which you can actually see and feel. You can not smell the caramel or anything, so in a blind test you would know from the smell it is chocolate, but you would, in my opinion, be able to guess the flavor (by smell alone anyway).
If you are a huge Salted caramel fan, you may actually be disappointed in this chocolate apart from the obvious chocolate lol both the sea salt and caramel flavors are subtle, really really subtle. I felt quite let down in all the important aspects (size, flavour) to be fair. I expected a much stronger flavour. The other ones I tried in the series were all rich in their flavour, but this one just lacked in excitement, bite, richness. It just did not hit the mark unfortunately :( others might feel differently though.
