"Did you think Slappy here was talking?"
Ray Gordon loves to scare his younger brother, Brandon. It's not hard considering Brandon is terrified of everything - loud noises, rollercoasters, and especially the wooden dummy, Slappy, that Ray got from the HorrorLand gift shop.
In order to throw his big New Year's Eve party, Ray's parents make him promise to leave Brandon alone. But strange, mean-spirited things keep happening to his little brother, and Slappy always seems to be around for it.
Could those words Ray read aloud actually have brought the dummy to life?

Do you love to get scared? Do you enjoy giving your heart a good workout? Then you will ADORE "Goosebumps Horrorland book #18: Slappy New Year!" I must admit, this book made my heart beat like an African drum, but books that have living dummies that want you to be their slave are sure to do that.
I have another "Goosebumps Horrorland" book in my collection featuring killer Hamsters that was rather scary, but it was not nearly as scary as this one if I do say so myself. I liked the cover, it looked pretty frightening and nearly gave me "Goosebumps", HA HA!! I liked the beginning of the book, in fact just by reading it I wanted to go to Horrorland (if it was real), and it was what inspired me to keep reading.
My favourite part was when the dummy, Slappy, came to life and started making mischief, it was really frightening! I must say that this book was so well done that I couldn't spot any bad bits; in fact I want to read it again when I have no other books to read. I think that if "Slappy New Year" is this good, I so want to read the other books in the series if I can get copies of them.
I think that this book, or better yet, this series is good for kids 10+, 'cause anyone younger might become a little too scared and might, well, you-know-what in their pants. I think that you will enjoy this book if you're in to horror books, so get a copy from your local bookstore today.
