There comes a point where paranoia moves from being a pointless waste of energy, to being an important survival trait. For the home PC user, that day has come and gone... so if you are still cruising along with the "Why would they come after me? I'm just a dust-speck in the greater internet..." you are in for a seriously rude awakening...
With home-user PC's no longer being the primary targets, but now just raw material for building a bot army from, you ARE a target, Mr Joe Public... a very valuable target in fact. With botmasters creating bots that infect your system, clean out any bots that have gotten in there first, and turning your PC into a slave to be used to attack bigger systems, you need to be aware of the very real threats and do something to protect your PC from them.
That's where this comes in... with a full array of tools to use against incoming threats, and to also help minimise damage from, and help eradicate, threats that may already have found their way into your system. Also, with the increase in email 'Account Details Confirmation' requests, aka Phishing, it's so easy to get caught out. The anti-Phishing and anti-Pharming systems in this package will help protect you from the worst of the scams currently floating around.
Overall, a very powerful package indeed, and quite resource-friendly, so you won't slow down to a crawl when it's running... but it also has a few small areas for improvement... such as, our test machine was infected with a mild-threat trojan that hides itself away in the hidden _RESTORE folder on various drives... PCC will detect it, but won't remove it, and because of it's very nature, it's quite hard to get into the restore folders to purge it manually... if the program can FIND it, it should be able to REMOVE it! Tut tut Trend Micro...
