Wow, this has to be one of the most beautiful books I have had the pleasure of reviewing in a long time. The words, the illustrations the whole thing is just perfect. It's one of those books that will quickly become a family favourite, one to keep and share with everyone. Anna Pignataro has done the most amazing job, I had never heard of her until I read How I love you, Daddy but I am keen to check out more of her books.

The illustrations are like wonderful water colours, they are so amazing you could just imagine them as framed artwork. The animals in her pictures are delightful and she tells the story so well through pictures. Each illustration depicts the words on the page, so even children who can't read can still pick up whats happening.

I took the book to work and read it with a group of 3 and 4 year olds, they were all fascinated in both the pictures and the story. It promoted a lot of conversation as each page we stopped and they talked about doing the same things with their dad's at home. The bouncing on daddy page seems to be the favourite there is always lots of giggles and chattered about bouncing on daddy in bed to wake him up!

This book would make a wonderful present for a new baby and would become a well read keepsake, along with books such as Guess how much I love you? I think it is a must have for any family collection and will be heading out to buy copies for my niece and nephews.

The first page of this book is what got me. "Three little tigers blew raspberries and said, 'This is how we love you, Daddy.'" This is exactly what we say in our house, so I knew that this book was for us. It goes through and shows the different ways to love your Daddy (or parent), and how just saying 'I love you' isn't the only way.

The pictures depict exactly what the story is telling in words. It shows all the baby animals playing in their own way, which helps narrate the story for Miss 4. The pictures were clear yet fun and suited the mood of the story of fun and playful. It wasn't too long and kept Miss 4 amused until the very end, which is a big thing to do! She didn't want to change stories part way through like with some books.

We loved seeing the different ways that different animals played with their dads. They all loved to play rough and tumble to some degree...exactly what Miss 4 does with her Daddy! Baby hedgehog bounced, Baby panda pounced and the little baby bunny wrestled...all things she does and now she knows that when Daddy does them to her, it means he loves her without having to say the words. A beautiful story with wonderful pictures to match.
