Just looking at the cover of this book had my Miss Three excited and immediately she got it in her possession it has become her favourite book. We have read it almost every night for two weeks and generally I have to read every word right from the gorgeous little profiles of each pet. These are helpful as sometimes Miss three will want a reminder about a pet so we can just flick to the front and do a quick recap. I am not sure if the pets exist in the Disney movies but I have no idea who they are so I appreciate the little intros about them. The pets are all very cute and the stories are very simple to understand and all the stories are very cutesy and just perfect for Miss Three. The illustrations are very colourful and glossy and Miss thee will often just sit with the book "reading" it to herself. She loves all the illustrations which are on every page. It wouldn't surprise me if this is one of those classic books that she holds onto for years.

Miss Six also loves reading this with her and I encourage her to try to read some of it to Miss Three as the words are at a level she can attempt. Each page only has a sentence or two so these are easy little stories to read unless you have a little Miss like mine who insists that the book be read cover to cover.

With Christmas coming up this is the perfect gift for any little princess and will entertain for many hours. A truly gorgeous book that definitely hits the mark in my house with its target market.

The Disney Palace Pets Storybook Collection is one big book with twelve stories about the Palace Pets. It is a quality hardback which will look good for years. The cut out oval with the title showing through from the title page was liked by the girls too. There is also a blurb about each one at the start. I liked that there was a contents page which helped my daughters (4.5 and 6 years old) to read numbers and also work out where to find the story they wanted. Each title includes the name of the Palace Pet it is featuring which was very handy when one of the girls would say I want the story about Treasure. Some of the stories have two pets in them and these were ones that were requested over and over.

We don't have SkyTV so my girls only know about the Palace Pets thanks to YouTube and a Pet Salon app we have. I knew very little about them. It is empowering to see that of the eight pets seven are female with Sultan the tiger the only male. None of the pets feature in the original fairy-tales but Disney have given a Palace Pet to each of their princesses.

Miss 4.5's favourite is Pumpkin, a white puppy that belongs to Cinderella (not pumpkin coloured at all). She has just pointed out to me that she has a glass slipper tag on her and a tiara. After having this book for a week she is now an expert on the Palace Pets and happily reads (in her own words) the book as well as requesting a story or two every night. I even caught her reading the book to her rabbit and explaining to him all about the characters. Her big sister happily listens to the stories and requests her favourites but she isn't a fanatic. I suspect that the book is more aimed for four and five year olds.

I thought the price of the book was very reasonable especially given that it was a hardback and Disney. It would make a great gift.

Written by Friar Michael Seed

Product image for NobodyMichael Seed 's childhood was nothing but a daily ordeal of unspeakable neglect, misery, and abuse from a father whose tyranny of fear stole Michael's formative years from him and drove Michael's mother to suicide. After years of silence, he now feels ready to tell a story that, though shockingly painful, is a testament to one human's remarkable ability to triumph over the most appalling of circumstances. Living with his adoptive parents, life ... more...
