While both girls were having a nap today I curled up on the couch lying in the sun and managed to read this in just over an hour. My husband has been crying about this movie and wanting desperately to see it so I had a talk to santa and he is now receiving the DVD. I was concerned I would not understand it, so requested the book to get some sort of background on the story. I need not have worried the story is extremely easy to follow and now I am dying to watch the movie.
After Peter's mother dies, he runs away from the hospital and manages to get abducted by aliens. Life is going great till he decides he wants to be rich and double crosses his boss/kidnapper. At the same time bounty hunters Rocket and Groot are chasing Peter for the money, whilst Gamora wants a fresh start and requires the stolen orb, then you have Drax the destroyer who basically wants revenge on Ronan. Through the fates that be they partnership up planning to sell the orb and make a lot of cash.
I did not realise that this is the first book in a series. Well, upon looking further into it was an original comic book (yes the penny just dropped my husband has the series). It has to be said, I am curious as to where the books are going and will no doubt read the next one or watch the next movie.
I love how uncomplicated the book was. The writing is very basic and the words are probably best suited for pre teens as there is nothing hard about them. I am loving the Groot character, as only ever says 'I am Groot'. Should be a good movie. Recommend this book to anyone who has children into space, aliens, adventure or is a fan of Marvel and comic books.
