The intense aromas are of nashi pear, dried nectarine and fig. Flavours of these and other dried fruits fill the mouth, whilst the finish is dry, long and rewarding. Pairs well with many foods, especially pork, seafood and cheeses.

I was lucky enough to be given a bottle of this delicious Pinot Gris by Four Hawk Day to review. I love a good Pinot Gris. It's very quickly becoming one of my favourite styles of white wine. I am usually a Riesling girl, but recently the Aromatics of the Pinot Gris have been a winning factor.
I chilled off this bottle in the fridge on Thursday night, waiting for my husband to return. When he got home, I cracked open the bottle. This is a screw top lid, which suits me just fine. It's easy for the consumer and I don't notice too much difference between cork and not anyway. I poured it into some glasses, and the liquid was really crisp.
The nose of this wine made me think of orchard apples for some reason, and then as it warmed the smells developed more and aligned with the flavours in each mouthful. It definitely had a richness to the palate, and the promised dryness was also there. I savoured my glass, as did my husband. I had earmarked the rest of the bottle of dinner on Saturday, though I regretted not just pouring another glass or two.
Saturday night, I created a quick but flavourful dinner from chicken drumsticks, baked in a mixture of Sids Crazy Salt, this Pinot Gris and some butter. The chicken sat in the mixture and soaked up the wine flavours beautifully as it cooked. The chicken was delicious and felt really special. It was great paired with a bed of rice and some wine cocktails to compliment the meal. I would buy this one again, it was a really nice bottle of wine. Next time though, I will just drink the lot!
