When I was a kid Flipper was my preferred movie of the aquatic kind.

In Flipper, Sandy is reluctantly sent to his uncle's seaside home for a summer after a his parents divorce and he becomes a 'problem child'. Sandy ends up meeting Flipper, who changes his life and attitude, helps him nab the girl, and he sets off to help Flipper get to freedom. There is enough to parallel here between Flipper and Free Willy, but when you are a dolphin lover then Flipper takes centre stage. My kids really enjoy Flipper and when in the mood will play it twice in a row.

A cute dolphin, a simple story, and a lot of whimsical under and out-of-water adventures. We get 'em. And there are some more magical moments, such as a very splendid little sequence where Flipper swims through the depths and explores the marvels of underwater life. The underwater photography is quite lovely and although Flipper doesn't do anything that we haven't seen him do before, he is quite a good-looking and charming character on the screen. However it is Paul Hogan who stands out and makes the movie what it is when Flipper is not on camera as Elijah Wood just doesn't stand out.

A fun movie, Paul Hogan adds points to this movie.
