A few years ago, I noticed Joel on the front page of the local paper. He was being interviewed about an upcoming public performance by a number of local and regional acts. The photo was very stunning, showing Joel with blazing juggler's pins in hand.
Over the years, I have heard Joel mentioned around town, seen his live acts, watched his skill with balloon art in local malls... all of which was performed with a level of professionalism much higher than his years would imply.
I saw him doing his balloon art at a local Toys Day Out held at a local park, and was impressed with his manner and courtesy towards his audience. Even in the face of 4 kids asking for 5 balloon toys, he kept a cool head and happy demeanor, and even pulled off the greatest escape act I have seen in many years... with a crowd of disappointed kids in line, he quickly and politely bowed out to go onstage and perform some magic. Not only did the kids NOT kick up a stick, they promised to watch his show and wait for his promised return for their balloons.
Overall, I would have to admit that for such a young man, Joel displays a professional and expert face to his audience, and would have to be on the list of 'local performers to watch for future great things'.
