Children and parents can sing along to the tune of the popular song 'Frog Went a' Courting' as they follow wombat and turtle on their way to a dance deep in the Australian bush. Along the way, they make new friends with the magpie, the goanna, the kookaburra, the kangaroo, the crocodile - and soon a band of Aussie animals are dancing the night away.

My five year old grabs books mainly on how they look, usually a quick flick through the book, but he's of the point of view that if the illustrations are good then the story probably is too. The Wombat Went a Walking follows a wombat who decides to go for a walk and along the way meets other Australian animals and they all decide to go to a dance together.
If you can read music then head to the back of the book and you can learn the tune and sing this to your child. If not, then head to google and you can listen to the tune and learn that way. For those not bothered, it's still a fun book and reading it flows along in such a fun way.
My kids really enjoyed this book, and I enjoyed everything about it. I'm sure that my son will grab it to borrow again (if his sister doesn't beat him to it.)
