Product reviews...
I have become a huge fan of Barkers products and especially their juice syrups!! I bought this flavour from a recommendation that a friend made as she prefers to drink it as a hot beverage when she is feeling sick...because the lemon and honey help soothe her sore throat and since I enjoy drinking another flavour of Barkers drink I knew this flavour would be great too.
When I went to the supermarket to find it I didn't realise it was Honey, Lemon and Ginger because Ginger is one of my favourite flavours..and as soon as I opened the bottle I could smell the 3 ingredients especially the ginger and the flavour was out of this world.
First I tried it mixed with cold water out of the fridge and the flavour was very intense and tasted great, then I tried it with boiling water out of the jug and boy the flavours got even more intense and I can totally see how this drink with the lemon and honey can make a sore throat feel better. I almost wish I had to sore throat to test out the theory!!
I love that I can choose how much syrup I need at one time...meaning I can use just enough syrup to mix into one glass or cup, unlike some others that need to be mixed into one litre of water...if I want it a little bit sweeter or not so sweet I add more or less....and I don't have to wait until the drink dissolves, as being a liquid form to start with it mixes easily, it hardly needs stirring at all....brilliant!
To me the glass bottle seems more posh than other brands so that means that Barkers pride themselves in delivering a quality product to the customers! I do wish the price was cheaper...and I will be looking out for this when it is on special but since I don't like sweet drinks I have found that one bottle lasts ages, and I can easily have 4 or more large mugs of this syrup as a hot drink and that is just me....I have introduced my mum to this drink as well and she also enjoys it hot!
Since this was recommended to me I have also recommended it to friends and they too have enjoyed it as a hot drink when they are sick...it is a good, quality product that I just love to enjoy!
Barkers lemon, honey and ginger fruit syrup is my new favourite drink. I have had a lingering sore throat and saw this drink on the menu at a cafe recently. It was a cold day and I didn't want anything milky for my throat, so I ordered it. This drink is divine. The dominant flavour is ginger and I've always loved ginger. It was very soothing for my throat and cleared my nose while it also warmed me up. It is the perfect winter drink.
The next day I went to the supermarket specifically to buy a bottle of syrup. I was surprised to see ho many different brands and varieties of syrup there was. I chose the Barkers brand because I have enjoyed their products before and it was much cheaper than the equivalent of another brand. Since then it has been the only hot drink I have had and my sore throat has improved.
I love the Barkers brand, it has a real home made feel to it. This week i've had strep throat and wasn't able to drink the gallons of coffee like normal. I went and purchased this lemon, honey and ginger syrup.
This has a really nice balance of the ginger and lemon, its tart but not sour. It would of been nice if there was more 'bits' of lemon/ginger pulp in it, but overall it provided much relief to my throat and was super nice to drink. So nice i finished the bottle in two days. That may go for saying how many hot drinks I consume in one day!! It does leave a sugary feel in your mouth which is a bit of a downside, but I guess to be expected by a concentrated drink mix.
I would and will be buying this again, it was a great change from coffee, and i cannot wait to try it over ice cream! Another big ups is that its made in New Zealand - even better in the South!!!!
