Product reviews...
For as long as I can remember I have been eating Salada crackers as part of my lunch as I love crackers, but for some reason I really am just not a fan of sandwiches or bread unless it is toasted. When I noticed these Vita-Weat crackers on the shelf I decided that I had to try them, they were the same size as the salada crackers which I would usually buy, but rather than being white crackers, they came in a variety of different flavours Pumpkin, Sunflower & Canola, Sunflower, Poppy & Rye, Oats, Sunflower & Chia and Soy, Linseed & Sesame. Everything about the crackers seemed somewhat more healthier than the Salada, even the way the box was made so it had me sold.
I decided to buy the Soy, Linseed & Sesame flavour as I prefer smaller seeds in my food rather than big chunky ones. The first cracker I ate straight out of the pack, it was light and crunchy and didn't break into a million pieces when bitten into, nor did it leave crumbs everywhere. The taste was just right, and the Soy, Linseed & Sesame was perfectly balanced throughout with the right sprinkling of salt.
The size of these crackers is perfect, and is much more suited to adding toppings to than the average sized crackers. These are delicious topped with cream cheese and relish, ham and cheese and also with tomato and cheese. Miss 2 also loved these (which did happen to surprise me) but had hers topped with marmite.
These crackers are definitely a great alternative to the usual sandwich and a great cracker to buy if your looking for a healthier option.
I too am a cracker fan and so are my children. My son loves crackers and much prefers to have a cracker with toppings on it than a sandwich for lunch. I don't give my kids a lot of snack foods but these are great because they are a more healthy choice. The crackers are full of grains and full of taste. We generally get the Pumpkin, sunflower and Canola as I like the bigger seeds but do get the poppy seed ones too.
They are a great size so you can top with cheese and tomato, or cream cheese and raisins and have one (or two) for your lunch and it is a real filling tasty lunch. I can also just eat these straight from the box without any topping as they are so full of flavour and my son likes to have his with a little bit of butter and vegemite.
The crackers are nice and crispy and don't break up when you bite into them or when you spread the toppings on top. They are a good price too so I alternate these in my weekly shop with corn thins just so that we get a bit of variety from week to week.
I am a cracker fan and these are one of the best crackers on the market in my opinion. Vita-Weat Lunch Slices are the perfect size and the yummo flavours the crackers come in are unbeatable!! I like eating all the flavours, and love the fact they are a healthy option, full of seeds, and wheat products.
I love the fact that Vita-Weat Lunch Slices don't break into pieces or break in half when you bite into them, the only piece of the crackers to break is the part you bite through with your teeth. Unlike other crackers that break in half and all the topping falls onto your lap creating a mess there is nothing like that happening with Vita-Weat Lunch Slices!! I was able to load up the toppings and successfully eat Vita-Weat Lunch Slices without any of the cracker breaking.
The box the crackers come in is as natural looking as the crackers and I love that, the makers of Vita-Weat Lunch Slices are confident enough to know their crackers speak for themselves and don't need any fancy packaging to sell their product. I like that there are two individually wrapped packs of crackers inside, open one pack and know the second pack is still kept fresh until it is needed. Vita-Weat Lunch Slices are a perfect if not better substitute for bread, and Vita-Weat Lunch Slices make the perfect snack or lunch time meal. They are also very filling, which surprised me, most be all their healthy goodness!!
I will continue to purchase Vita-Weat Lunch Slices as I am most impressed and love the taste...I can rest assured they are a healthier option to snack on or load up with my favourite toppings. I highly recommend Vita-Weat Lunch Slices and I think the price is reasonable for the product that you are buying because they are great tasting!! Keep an eye out for when they are on special because you won't regret trying them out.
When Arnotts first released the Vita-Wheat Lunch Slices they gave me a hamper of goodies including cheese, tuna, tomatoes, avocado and relish to use to test their new cracker. This demonstrated to me how great lunch slices are.
These are a huge cracker. They are the same size as a salada but without the perforations to make it smaller. I have found them great for lunches as they are the perfect size for a slice of cold meat like ham. They were quite easy to eat and didn't break up like some crackers do as soon as you take a bite. It filled me up too. One or two lunch slices with toppings and a piece of fruit and I was set for the rest of the day.
I have since tried all the varieties and I don't have a favourite. The lunch slices don't have a strong flavour which means that they can go with topping. All the great seeds that are contained in these crackers make it a healthy choice for lunch. My mum is also a lunch slices convert thanks to me raving about them. Because there are two sealed packs in each box they stay fresh for a long time and certainly taste better than stale bread.
I was fortunate enough - like some of the other reviewers, to be able to try these before they were even out on the shelves. I too received a "goodie box" with the Lunch Slices, cheese slices, tuna, and other little tit bits.
Oh my, they are YUMMY!!! My 3 yr old loves them to - and calls them her "bread crackers". They are great for little hands and mouths as they do not fall apart too easily, and turn into a soggy mess - always a plus when snacking in the car!
They are a good size cracker, and really are designed to take the place of/or provide a break from eating sandwiches every day. With the four different flavours, there is plenty of variety too.
Whilst they are on the higher price side, rest assured they are a good quality product, and with 2 sealed packs, it means they do stay fresh for longer.
They are a pretty good choice in terms of health wise too - with grains in them to help keep you fuller for longer, and not too much of the bad things like salt and sugar.
Great product, and very versatile... opps - think i stole another cracker's catch phrase there!!
I was lucky enough to get a box of these before they hit the shelves. With it, I was given things like tuna, cheese, chutney, tomato and avocado. All wetish things to go on a decently sized cracker.
At first I wasn't too sure as they seemed quite big and felt like they might be too hard. However, I went ahead and piled cheese, chutney and chicken on top of two crackers. The first, and best thing that I noticed, was that it stayed firm. Here it was with wet items on it, and it was staying nice and firm, no falling apart or breaking apart which was a major plus.
I found these to be so filling that I only needed the two crackers to leave me feeling full and I didn't need anything more till dinner. We now always have a pack of these stored in the cupboard for those days when we want a quick, but very filling meal.
I had been eyeing these up in the supermarket for a while now, so this week i finally purchased some. They have caught my eye due to the unique natural looking cardboard that is used.....the box has a rustic feel to it, and that to me indicates that the crackers would be wholesome and hearty. And that they were!
Upon opening the pack, i discovered that there was two packs inside. This is an awesome idea, as who wants stale biscuits! there are 6 big square crackers in each pack, making 12 in total. I think the price seems a bit steep for only a few crackers....but this would see you out a week and after trying them, i would be happy to pay $4.49 again. I had cream cheese and an apricot chutney on mine, the cracker was nice and firm, but not hard. You could tell that it would stay nice and firm if you were to make a cracker with meats/cheese/veges etc in the morning for your lunch.
I tried the sunflower, oats and chia flavour, and they didn't have a distinct 'flavour' as such, but were really filling. After my two crackers i was full and satisfied as there is quiet a lot of eating in one cracker. If you are after something a bit different for your lunch, you should go and find these at your local supermarket. The only downside is - they are Australian made!!!!!
