Animorphs - 5 - The Predator product reviews

We can't tell you who we are. Or where we live. It's too risky, and we've got to be careful. But everyone is in danger, yeah even you.

Marco never wanted to be an Animorph. He certainly did not want to be one of a handful of kids who are the planet's only defense against a secret alien army. He's worried about his dad - the only family Marco has left. If anything happens to him, his father will be alone. But something is about to change for Marco, something that could finally give him a reason to fight.

This was the first Animorphs book I have ever read. I was a bit worried to be starting on book 5, but I thought I'd risk it. It wasn't too risky. Within the first 20+ pages, I knew enough about the kids and the situation that the adventure could unfurl from there.

I did find myself hooked in quickly with the character. The story opens straight into some action, which allows us to get a good understanding of Marco. You get to know about his special abilities and his friends too. I instantly felt I couldn't put this book down.

There might be some stuff that would be clearer if I had read the other titles in the series. However, I didn't feel left out not knowing how certain things had occurred. It made me want to read the other titles, because this one was such a good read.

I reckon this book would suit girls and boys. It has a bit of something for everyone. Boy characters who are all different, strong girl characters (yeah! let's hear it for the girls). At $12, this would fill an evening quite nicely and works out cheaper than a movie ticket and combo at the theatre.

Yay, animorphs are back! I have been waiting quite a while for the next animorphs book to arrive, but I thought it would be book 4, not 5 as the last one I read was book 3, "the encounter". The cover was as cool as always, I have always enjoyed tilting the book back and forth, watching one of the 5 animorphs characters changing from human to animal on the lenticular image.

Now, in each book the story is laid out from a chosen character's point of view, and I was very interested in reading this book as the chosen character is Marco, and he's the person with a broken family and is always sort of holding back on many things, so now I can see the truth to why he does these things. I didn't understand some parts of the story as I had missed a whole book in the series, so hopefully I will be able to find a copy of book 4 at the library, as I have found a lot of each book only makes sense because of the knowledge of what happened in the previous books.

The price is nice and low, which is good because it means that more people can afford to buy the book, as it is a great story that people in their pre-teens and up will love. I didn't lose track of time as much with this book, but i did enjoy it very much, I was always kept hooked by the level of excitement that you would get from reading about 5 kids who are fighting against a whole alien race, so I will have to re-read this book some time, as it is one I will not be getting rid of for a few years at least. All things in consideration, I say this is is a book worthy of it's price and surely one that young adults will love.
