Product reviews...
When things were getting harder with breastfeeding due to PND with my supply starting to drop we started to use formula more. I found these helpful to bring with us when going out to places, we would full a bottle up with water and pop one of these inside with enough powder for the bottle be it the 260ml or the 150ml and then go from there.
Having read other reviews on the tops popping off, I personally didn't have this issues but it pays to note that you need to really put the lid down so it pops into it well, there are little notches on the side that you can see where the lids goes down to fully, and a separate lid that comes off to empty into the bottle. I found if I was making a 260ml its a tight fit for formula...! This sometimes can be a bit fiddly getting out completely (but then so if getting formula out of a tin!). I also found if I fulled my bottles too much with water when these were placed in on top that would over flow so you need to get the water level correct to a degree that it wont compromise to make up of the formula powder to water ratio esp if your using these for the 150ml bottles.
Over all a handy thing to have if you needing to carry extra powder with you without lugging around packets of formula, tins or other containers. Once again pays to note these are now under the name Sangenic and not Tommee Tippee/Jackel anymore.
With our first baby due in a few weeks I have been on the look out for great baby products and know that our baby will eventually be on the bottle when I return to work (and eventually formula as well). I have always loved the closer to nature bottles and thought this would be the perfect dispenser to go with this product.
However after trailing these at work (I'm an early childhood teacher) I have totally gone off the idea all together!! I have found them to be extremely fiddly and its always an effort to get the lid off the top of the dispenser without ending up with formula spilling everywhere. Aside from the obvious mess you then have to clean up it also means you then haven't got the right amount of formula to make a bottle any more. Double frustration on this point that's for sure!
So while the lids are fiddly/tricky to come off when you need to, they also seem to pop off and make a huge mess in your nappy bag if you were storing a spare in there. As others have said in their reviews they would probably be okay if stored inside the bottle at all times which I guess is what they are made for, however the fact that this product isn't multi use really takes all the appeal away for me.
I definitely wont be recommending this product to friends and future parents!
I was gifted one of these when trialling formula, and found it to be really helpful! It would hold the right amount of formula so that you could just tip it straight it, meaning no fuss or hassle. I did find a few things that I did not really like - but they weren't major things.
You HAD to store them in the bottle, as recommended, and could not have a "spare" tucked in the nappy bag without a bottle, as the lid would not always stay on, resulting in a very powdery nappy bag!!
Other than that, i found them easy to use, easy to clean, a great size, fitted compactly inside the bottle, and would happily recommend them!
When I purchased these it was with the aim of making things easier. They were fantastic for holding the perfect amount of formula in them.
However, we did have some problems with them. They could only sit in the bottle as the lid would quite often pop off. There were times when it was so hard to get the lid on or off them that we would end up with formula all over the show which was always very frustrating.
The only other thing I found annoying was that if the water in the bottle was warm the formula would clump up inside the dispenser (though this is more likely to be due to the steam rather than a fault of the dispenser).
Should I have another child, and knowing what I know now, I would still go with this and just ensure that the dispenser sits in the bottle when full of formula.
I used these everyday when my daughter was in care. They were great because there was a measured dose of formula that sat dry inside the bottle making it so convenient and compact in the nappy bag. It was great to know that the formula was fresh and hadn't been sitting in one of those bulky formula dispensers for weeks. I did find with some of the formulas that required more powder only just fitted into the dispenser. I also learnt the hard way that it should only be used in bottle as the lid can pop off.
I think these are an essential purchase to go with the Closer to Nature bottles, I loved being able to measure out the powder we needed, pop it safely and compactly in the bottle then make up the formula only when I needed it. I didn't have to pre-make up bottles to take out with me or muck around with a bulky container. I'd highly recommend to anyone.
A wonderfull invention.
It comes with 3 compact milk powder dispensers that can each hold 8 scoops of powder.
It saves you time by letting you measure powder in advance for the whole days feeds, Also saves on waste as you only make up the bottle when you need it, and it also avoids the risk of the milk going off as the powder is kept separately.
Its dishwasher safe also.
