I enjoy creating mosaics and my children enjoy being able to create their own using the magnetics. The pieces are small but a great opportunity for my children to hone their fine motor skills and place them where they would like them to go.
The ability to create so many different designs from the one pack was also a bonus, although my children veered off on their creative path and came up with a number of their own unique designs which was also wonderful. Reusable, easy to pack up, and convenient to take with us on visits I will be adding more to our collection.
When I took it to school, everybody crowded around me to do it and fiddle with the pieces. It's like doing jigsaw puzzles when everyone wants to finish it for you.
The pieces are very small and get lost easily. The tiles don't fit back in the box easily once they have been taken apart.
The pictures look hard but are awesome. I enjoyed making my own pictures too. But the pieces are small and fiddley.
I bet lots and lots of people would like it for a birthday or christmas present. Maybe for Easter too because some people are allergic to chocolate.
It is lots of fun.
An excellent introduction into the world of mosaics that is bound to captivate and entertain anyone, and I do mean anyone.
When it first arrived, my daughter took it to hospital to occupy her whilst I chatted with a friend. Almost 80 years separates my daughter and my friend - yet with a mosaic book, tiles and a magnetic board, I was pretty much ignored; until I gave in to temptation and joined in.
The book is well presented and would make an attractive gift for anyone. The storage box attached holds all the magnetic tiles - until they have been separated, and then it can be somewhat of a mission to get them all back into the box - but that is just a minor irritation with me.
Each sheet of tiles breaks down fairly easily into the idividual tiles, but to me they seemed a little small, and from my point of view I would have liked them to be a little larger, but they didn't seem to bother my daughter.
The book gives the reader (if that is the correct word) plenty of ideas to make; however, the blank board also gives the artistic mind plenty of scope to explore the limitless world of mosaics. I will be making sure this book is close at hand for all long journeys and I must add - it is good dad/daughter time too.
