This has to be one of the nicest and easiest backup program for servers that I have come accross in a while. I have investigated various backup solutions and this one really caught my eye, it has all the features anyone would need like SQL & Exchange Database backup as well as a very well designed Open File agent.

Symantec Backup Exec is of course very modular like most other backup programs on the market, you begin with the base install, and then add on modules/agents as and when you need them, however it pays to be aware that each module/agent does come with an associated cost but you can't really put a price on the knowledge that you data is being protected and can be gotten back quickly and easily in the event of any data loss.

Symantec Backup Exec supports backling up to all kinds of media from Trape Drives (yes they are still used) to Removable Media (DVD-RW/DVD-RAM etc) and External/Secondary HDD (although this is not the recommended device to backup to unless the backup HDD is protected by some sort of RAID solution.

To sum it all up I highly recomend Symantec Backup Exec as a suitable backup solution for small to medium (but mainly medium) businesses.
