Review #23046 - Dated: 14th of April, 2025 Author: mizim |
A family live on a little island, happily keeping to themselves, spending their days resting and fishing, eating and sleeping and most importantly, staying away from the Terrakeet. Of course, it wouldn't be much of a story if they were successful in this endeavor and naturally, one of the younger members of the family find themselves stumbling upon the Terrakeet as it prepares a meal for itself. Soon though, the young child realizes that the Terrakeet isn't all too scary, in fact, it burst into tears over a swarm of bees, and soon they family and the Terrakeet become good friends.
I really liked the illustrations in the book, some nice little details throughout the pictures and it definitely felt like a nice and chill island where you could easily relax your days away. The Terrakeet definitely had a giant, mutated parakeet feel to it. The story is fun, the general pacing and rhyme was nice. There was nothing really scary about the book, instead the main focus being that looks can very much be deceiving and that sometimes the monster isn't a monster at all, just misunderstood and looks like it is something frightening. I enjoyed the book, the illustrations were lovely and the vibe of the book was overall lovely, an easy recommendation.
