Review #21175 - Dated: 3rd of November, 2019 Author: mizim |
This game was grabbed off the discounted table of a lovely little board game shop I like to visit, I had never heard of the game but my youngest two thought the cat on the cover of the box was adorable and I thought it sounded interesting, so I took the leap. I must admit that I find the scoring a little confusing at the moment, but the more I play it, the better I get at working out the scores you get, based upon what firework display you create on your card. Whilst the initial scoring can be a bit confusing, the good thing is that you can keep referring to your little score card and rearrange your firework tiles each time you collect a new tile, this is especially handy for the younger players.
What I really like about this game is that all the tiles go in the box, face down, so it is a sea of black. You then drop the dice on top of them (don't go too low or none will flip, too high and some may flip out of the box and then you can't use them that turn). What this dropping causes is a lovely affect of the tiles flying up and hopefully flipping over, giving a burst of colour (much like fireworks) which is rather delightful and quite different to most of the games on our shelf. The game ends when someone fills up all the spaces on their board, then you can flip the bottom of the box over for a scoring route, I personally, find this too small spacing wise and so don't use it.
This ended up being a good score, it's fun and different, just make the pictures accompanying the rules a little clearer and I would be happier.
