Review #20558 - Dated: 14th of April, 2019 Author: kiwiblondie |
i have two boys who love transformers so when they saw this advertised in the cinemas I was repeatedly asked if we could go and see it but unfortunately we ran out of time so I just knew I had to ask for a copy to review. The boys were that excited to see that I got a copy that they wanted to stay home from school just to watch the DVD, obviously I did the responsible thing and told them to go to school.
I loved the special effects right away, it was like the cars could transform and it would be the most natural thing in the world to see. Bumblebee's sense of humour is awesome, I was laughing a lot as he revealed his attitude and reminded me of a typical teenager and so were the boys, they could see the funny side of the situation without thinking it was ok to try and do the same things at home. I could clearly remember some of the songs from my childhood and was singing along quite nicely but I"m sure the boys were just laughing due to what was happening at that time in the story. I know this is a movie we are going to be watching over and over, the story was a bit predictable but the boys loved it. I haven't watched the bonus features as I think that the movie is the main attraction.
It really worked with the live actors and obvious animation, really well done. I liked how Charlie just accepted that Bumblebee could change form just like kids do, they accept things that adults overthink. I'm not sure many parents of almost 9 year old boys would let them watch this movie but I know my boys understand the difference between real life and movie make believe and I encourage them to watch things that could be challenging so I guess it is technically more suited to older audiences.
