Review #1028 - Dated: 16th of December, 2005 Author: Tucker |
WOW... Where do I begin?! This book covers so many bases, it might even be too much to handle for the beginner. Full of literally hundreds of important hints and bits of information, starting with "Know your camera" and ranging through "10 tips for better pictures", "Think about Composition", "Lighting" and "Beating Shutterlag"... and that's just the first chapter!
Chapters include:
"What Shall I Photograph" which give you ideas on what to snap, and how to do it right.
"Digital Trickery" which covers how to tweak the picture into shape and colour, erase unwanted elements, fix red-eye, and working with the automated filters and effects built into the free copy of Adobe Photoshop Elements.
"It's Showtime" which goes over printing, virtual frames, using your finished artwork in cards, posters, comics and T-shirt transfers, and finally making animated slideshows.
Overall, this is one full-on book, perhaps a little daunting for the beginner, but if you are brave, or have at least a little computer experience, you should find this to be a treasure trove of ideas and information... A great gift for a creative friend or family member, young or old. With the major bonus of having the CD in the front cover, with a wide range of software and clipart ready to use... what are you waiting for? if you sit here reading this all day, someone else will buy your copy before you get to the bookshop!
