Rachel Lyndon yearns to escape her scandalous past, but her dreams for a better life seem ruined after she buries her fiance on the Texas plains.

Heath Renier has been evading the law by the skin of his teeth for years. Now he's found a new identity as Holden Renshaw, foreman of Dog Creek Ranch. But the arrival of his boss's mail-order bride, now a widow, upsets his fragile peace and threatens to expose his deadly secrets.

Rachel knows that the mysterious and savagely handsome Holden is the last man she should trust - especially once she's seen glimpses of his true nature. When he's suspected of killing his employer, she has a terrible choice to make. But the heat of his gaze ignites something seductive and irresistible within her. No matter how dangerous the road ahead, she's determined to give him the one thing he's never truly believed he deserves: her undying love.

This is not the fast quick read I expected it to be - instead it was rather heavy in places and really involved. It was a strange read as I was totally into it but yet I wasn't. Curiosity kept me going but I found I could easily put it down for a couple of days and not worry about it. But then as soon as I picked it up I was deeply involved until the chapter finished. The chapters where very long and so much could happen that you where left feeling exhausted.

If anything this book taught me just be honest. If people had been honest from the start instead of always worrying what other people would think all the time. No one knows how the other person will react until they know the facts. It was annoying and at time hair pulling fustrating but yet you are still pulled in to the story dying to know what will happen next as it is not nearly as predictable as I was expecting.

Susan Krinard has a great way of explaining the scenes so well and tells you every detail that it feels likes you are drowning on information overload at times. Like the 'love making scene' I had no idea how many layers those poor ladies had to wear all to keep their modesty, thank goodness we have come so far and can just wear jeans and a t-shirt instead of the mindblowing painfully layered girls of a long time ago.

I do like the strength that Rachel shows even though all the odds are stacked against her. But it takes so long for Holden and her to get it on the story is basically over before it finally happens. But being the prime and proper ladies they had to be I guess it was expected. This is a good read don't get me wrong but my mind is so reeling now so I am at a blank as to what to say. Except I really do like wolves.
