Review #13148 - Dated: 1st of January, 2015 Author: mizim |
I had seen the trailers for "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" a while ago and so I was keen to borrow this the other night when we were at the DVD shop.
Walter is a very average, very ordinary man who leads a quiet life and has spent the last sixteen years doing the same job for LIFE magazine. Things get shaken up when the company is bought out and there is a massive downsizing as they shift everything to online. When Walter finds a picture missing he sets off to find Sean and discovers much more than a photo along the way. There is some great special effects along the way, the scenery in some spots is simply gorgeous and I can imagine it would have looked wonderful on the big screen.
Ben Stiller does a really good job in this film as our key character (and director and producer!) and I have to say that I rather enjoyed his acting in this. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty can be a bit of an odd movie at times, but if you like movies that are a little odd (as I do) then you may well enjoy this. The only issue I had with this film was at one point Walter gets a txt which is written on the mountain side for us to read, but translated to the small screen I had to pause the film to read it. This is a fun movie with a few "awwww" moments and some good laughs, I could easily watch this again.
