Review #12689 - Dated: 18th of October, 2014 Author: samantha203 |
This evening I escaped to Heartside Bay again and enjoyed being there. These books are so easy to read and make for a good evenings entertainment. Full of drama and real life (well for teens anyway) events they have something interesting on every page, I haven't found myself getting bored with the storyline at all. I am yet to read book 4 so was odd reading book 5 without reading this as so much must of happened in the last book with the death of Ryan and Eve coming out to her friends.
I soon caught up but I will be going back and reading book 4 at some point when I can get my hands on a copy. I found the whole Eve being lesbian quite a shock and the school finding out was something she really struggled with so we even see the Ice Queen herself start to melt so it was quite refreshing seeing a softer more vulnerable side of Eve after her always being so cold and confident. She is a lot closer to the other girls now and needs them in a way she never needed them before so we see stronger friendships develop.
We go back to Polly's story in this book which was quite nice I have been enjoying Polly's story and have been wanting to find out what happens with her and Ollie, they seem right for each other not that Polly think so she always tries to fit in but it is the real her that Ollie loves. The title of the book was quite apt Never a Perfect Moment, and they never could quite find the perfect moment. So super frustrating to read when you just wanted them to finally have that first kiss, hang in there it comes and it is perfect just the way Polly wanted.
I was also happy to see Josh back in the storyline and perhaps something developing with him and Lila, I have wanted them to get together since the beginning so I really do hope that does go somewhere. Will have to wait and find out in the next book but for now things are looking hopeful. Things aren't easy for Lila at the moment she blames herself for Josh's death and the guilt is making her do things that are a little stupid so I hope she sorts herself out soon, Josh may be just the thing she needs to snap out of it.
Can't wait for the next edition of this series which I hope comes soon it is the kind of series where you finish reading one book and want to start reading the next straight away, they flow so beautifully from one book to the next and I really feel like I am getting familiar with the group from Heartside Bay now and want to keep reading about their lives.
