Kenny Manzetti is the new kid in town. His family moved back in to an old house to help take care of his grandfather. Everyone in his new neighbourhood is obsessed with zombies-even Grandpa Mo. But then a new family moves in next door and their choice in furniture is... interesting. Seeing a Goosebumps book come up for review instantly took me back to my childhood, I used to love Goosebumps and had a huge collection of the books. When I received it to review I was super excited to see if the stories were as good as I remembered and also to be able to share it with my niece afterwards. I couldn't wait to start reading it and a cold, wet, horrible day seemed like the perfect excuse to curl up on the couch and read. Straight away I was taking back to my childhood and reminded why I loved the Goosebumps books, it was a great mix of funny, serious, scary and interesting. Even though it was designed for children it had me guessing trying to pick what would happen next in the book. Every time I finished a chapter I was keen to keep reading needing to know what was happening next. For me it's the sign of a really good book. The chapters are a great length for children to read being not too long it makes it easier to put down and come back to. Not that many of them will want to put it down once they get started! I have now past it on to my niece and I know she will enjoy it as much as I did. |

GOOSEBUMPS! The stories of my childhood! I was so excited to see this come up for review and even more excited to see it in my box of goodies! I made sure I was the first to get my hands on the book even though the boys were just as excited to see the Goosebumps book arrive! The first thing I noticed was the cover, so much better than they use to be! Vibrant, scary and eye catching! It would definitely stand out on a book or library shelf. I love that the book is easy to pick up where you left off and that the print is quite big and easier for kid's to read. The chapters are kept at a great length for younger readers as well which I find is easier to keep them interested in a book as they can come back to it easily. I was pleased to find the Goosebumps book lived up to its reputation and was just as fun, scary and interesting to read as I had remembered. Mr Eight, my stepson is a wee way through the book and it is safe to say he is now a Goosebumps fan! If only I had kept my set! Thanks for taking me back! Great book! |
