I was lucky enough to win one of these peelers in a KIWIreviews Christmas comp and I soon fell in love with this peeler. When it comes to peeling fruit and vegetables I have always turned to a small paring knife. I find the knife's much more effective and comfortable to use for peeling as potato peelers I have used in the past have been fiddly to use and not very sharp resulting in a lot of effort required to get your peeling jobs done. That is until I tried one of these peelers. The difference with the ceramic blades is noticeable straight away as these are so sharp they make light work of peeling even hard vegetables like kumara. I would easily say that this potato peeler made my peeling work so much quicker because it effortlessly cuts through the skin. You wouldn't want to slip while you are peeling with one of these though because they are very very sharp and would easily slice through your skin as effortlessly as they cut through potato peel!! The one thing I would note is that because they are ceramic you don't need to push down as hard when you are peeling. This is the mistake I made by pushing down too hard when I was peeling and snappet the blade off the handle. This was so gutting for me as it was my favourite peeler so I was very sad when I broke it. I am yet to replace it but would totally get one of these again and with the knowledge of how to use it now I wouldn't break another one. This peeler isn't at all uncomfortable to use like the little fiddly plastic peelers you can buy, The handle is shaped so it fits well into your hand and as it glides through the skins of your vegetables you don't get a sore wrist or thumb from holding it steady. I would say it is the most comfortable peeler I have ever used and would be great for someone who does a lot of peeling or perhaps gets a sore wrist from peeling with a conventional peeler. |
