When Dead Space came onto the scene in 2008 it promised scares and innovation by the bucket-load but now it joins the long list of both games and movies where the sequels, just ain't that good. To begin with this no longer offers the scares that it's predecessor did, the first hour of the original Dark Space had far more horror and scares in it than the entire game play of Dead Space 3, and we're talking nearly twenty hours of game play here! Yes, Necromorphs jump out at you during the game but they do so with little craft or and there's almost no surprise to these attacks at all, with the emphasis placed on set pieces and all-out action moments there's no tension being built upon at all. You can combine two weapons together and whilst this can be handy at times and you'll never have to make the tough decisions about what you and don't keep for the sake of more room for items again as all your ammunition comes from the same generic pool. With both weapons failing here, and the major lack of scares throughout what is meant to be a horror genre game, this just isn't meeting expectations set out before hand, and even putting those aside this still isn't a game I would pull out and play often. |
