A delicate pale pink in colour. Seductive scents of wild strawberries, cranberries and violets. Dryish to taste, ethereal texture leads to a lingering finish. A seamless wine, made with a very light touch. 93/100 Bob Campbell. This is a delicate, nuanced and pretty rose to serve alfresco, as an aperitif and with fresh fruit over the next 2 years. Alcohol: 12.9 Residual sugar: 3.3 g/L |

I am not usually a fan of reds and rose wines because I have an unpleasant reaction to something in them that doesn't appear to be in white wines, however after trying a sip of this at a recent wine and food festival, I was convinced to give it a more in-depth trial. Now normally, I wouldn't add wine to food - seems such a waste - but I found a really nice bolognese recipe that called for red wine. Replacing it with this rose turned out to be a master stroke. The richness and body of flavour was amazing and impressed my whole family. And, as a bonus, I didn't end up with a nasty irritation in my throat. Feeling empowered by this success, I took a generous sip of the wine itself and found myself impressed by the subtle tannins - enough to let me know I wasn't drinking a white, but not enough to trigger my allergy the way most rose wines and all reds do. I had a small glass of it a few days later with a steak meal and it was a wonderful match as far as I was concerned. But then, I don't claim to be a wine snob of any ability or talent what so ever. ^;) Overall, this is a lovely drop and if I find myself wanting something a little deeper and richer than a white, this is going to be my first go-to wine. I am not at all surprised it has won some very prestigious praise from the wine critics. I just have to make sure the local bottle store is able to get some in stock for me. |
