Review #10713 - Dated: 26th of February, 2014 Author: mizim |
When the time came for the first Harry Potter to be brought out onto the big screen, I, along with a lot of others , were excited to see our favourite wizard jump out of the book and onto our movie screen.
I got to see this five times at the movie theatre, yup, five times. The first time it was utterly awful but this was due to the audience (a theatre full of thirteen year olds) who spent the whole time either cheering, screaming or telling Harry what he should or should not do. The second time was with my mum and I finally got to really enjoy the movie, then again three more times and several times on DVD since. Such is the pop culture of Harry Potter that my kids know who he is and haven't seen the movie yet.
The special effects, though good for the time, don't look as good now at times, but overall it still all flows smoothly. The kids, whilst not seasoned actors, all do a really good job and it ended up adding well to the movies as we got to see them grow and improve. There's plenty of well known actors in here as well, love Alan Rickman as Snape. Everything put together well, creating a fun movie that brought the world of Muggles and Quidditch and Hogwarts to life wonderfully.
The first Harry Potter is lots of fun, keep an eye out for the next 7 movies.
