Review #10597 - Dated: 13th of February, 2014 Author: CorrinaS |
When a friend of mine started going on about Sharknado and telling me it was a must see movie I thought she was insane. Seriously a movie about Sharks that are picked up by a waterspout and dropped into the streets of Los Angeles done on an extremely low budget there was no way I was paying to sit through that. However when prime showed it on TV I decided since it was free I would give it a try just to keep my friend happy more than anything else. I had to admit she was right and it was a must see movie! I headed straight out to buy my own copy I loved it!
Everything about Sharknado tells you that it should be a big flop, bad storyline, low budget, less the perfect acting, the worst special effects yet it is a really enjoyable movie. The movie is classed as a horror but it is more suited to be called a comedy!
The movie starts out believable, a storm is heading towards Los Angeles bringing sharks closes to the beaches at the same time. That's where the believable part ends and it becomes a real work of fiction as the storm picks up sharks start getting picked up in waterspouts and deposited into the streets of LA. As the storm is causing flooding they are free to swim around feasting on those they come across. The movie follows a group of friends from a bar on the beach as the travel through LA to save one of the guys ex wife and their children. Of course they meet their fair share of sharks along the way.
I really recommend watching Sharknado for yourself if nothing else it is a good laugh. The groan worthy lines, low budget and bad special effects just add to the experience. I really don't know if the movie would be as enjoyable or as popular if it had of been made as a main stream movie.
