Of all the whipple sets we have had the pleasure of playing with, this one is definitely my daughter and I's favorite. It makes the cutest little double layer sweetheart cookies. Whipple sets are a fun sweet craft set that look so good you could eat them. Do not eat them though. They are not edible lol so like the other sets these come complete with everything you need to create the picture on the box lol frosting, rhinestones, beads, piping bag and simple easy to read and follow instructions. Fake baking made easy. And miss 7 had no issues playing with this at all. Like the other whipple sets, they smell a bit odd, like chemicals, which is kind of off-putting, but the kids did not seem to complain, or even notice for that matter. The rhinestones etc that it comes with can be a little small and fiddly, but little fingers do not seem to have to much trouble with this, and as an added bonus if you want to add extra beads or charms you may have lying around, you can. The cream frosting stuff they come with, like the other sets, does take a very long time to set completely. This has both pros and cons to it. Con: if your 7 year old has completed her project and is happy with it, but her 12 year old brother decides to touch it an hour or so later to see if it is set and in turn mucks it up...a meltdown by miss 7 may follow :/ Pro: if you muck your project up, you can easily scrape the frosting back into the piping bag and start again :) lol |

My daughter got this Whipple set for her birthday in May. It was something I had been wanting to get her for a while now, but an Aunty beat me to it. Still, it was neat to see how her face lit up when she opened the present. She was so excited. She and I are really into arts, crafts and general "making creations", so this was right up her alley. She is 6, so a little young for the age on box, but that didn't matter too much. She has a fair amount of patience when it comes to art. Though she has no patience for instructions or following them. So we got the box open. I laid out all the pieces. Meanwhile she is trying to rip into the baggies for all the "treasures". I got her a bowl and some scissors so that all the beads and crystals didn't go everywhere. I got the whipple crème out and saw that it was a nice minty colour. I followed the instructions and massaged it in the bag for a bit to work the loose oil back into the crème. We put the nozzle on, and I did some practice squeezes to show my daughter what to do. She let me do one and she did the rest. It was nice to sit together and do an activity. She loved sharing everything out with me, and giving me a small selection. Though I was only really allowed the pearls to work with. I found the crème hard to work with at first, but much like cake decorating. It would have been cool to have a different nozzle shape maybe too. Still, we got four pretty neat looking cookies out of it and these can be made into keyrings or we can even use them in her toy oven if we want. I'm keen to try other sets in this range now! |
