The Hastings Top 10 site is situated in park-like surroundings near to Hastings Splash Planet Theme Park. Its convenient location is ideal for exploring Hastings and Havelock North. Hastings CBD is a few minutes away by car and around 30 minutes on foot. Hastings offers a range of shopping options, a seasonal Night Market in the CBD (Thursdays) and a wonderful regular Sunday Farmers Market at the nearby Showground. There are numerous places to eat locally and some of the best wineries in the country are situated in Hawes Bay. If you haven't visited for a while you will be pleasantly surprised by the upgraded facilities at the site. There is now a heated swimming pool and multi-purpose tennis/basket ball court on site. Two private spa pools can also be booked during your stay. The impressive picnic area near the communal kitchen is ideal for outdoor dining especially if you need to use a BBQ. During chilly evenings you can sit outside and keep warm by the outdoor fire. The toilet areas have been upgraded and plans are in place to further improve the showers for which there is a small charge. Other facilities include a laundry and well equipped large communal kitchen. There is also a small lounge area with TV near the kitchen. There is a dump station on site for campervans. There are a range of accommodation options such as chalets and cabins and large flat sites for campervans and tents. Powered sites are available and there are often great discounts on many of the accommodation options. The spacious grounds are well maintained and attractive with friendly ducks on the shallow stream which flows down on side of the site. Staff on site are friendly and helpful and ensure that the facilities are clean and checked regularly. It is an ideal and low cost option to stay in Hastings. |

We don't go camping often as I find it a bit of a mission with small children and I am more of a motel girl than a tent girl but when we have gone camping we have used this camping ground. We have visited twice as a family and my partners own family stayed there often when he was young. We love the lakes and Rotorua as there is so much to do and apart from all the tourist attractions there is actually a lot of free stuff around the Rotorua area like the blue lakes that are great for the whole family. Being nestled away from the main town area it is such a beautiful and peaceful place to be. Although at peak times of years this holiday park gets very busy and camping grounds at night time can be very noisy. We always get a power site and take the combi van as we can set the awning up off the side for the kids and have the main bed in the van for ourselves. With the power it means we can take a light and stuff to hang in the awning for our daughter who is not a fan of darkness at night and means we don't run the battery flat in the combi. The sites are really big so you have plenty of room to set up a table and barbeque outside so you have everything you need in close proximity. One time when we stayed there it rained and we couldn't use the barbeque but they have a huge kitchen area with lots of oven tops where you can cook food. There are also lots of sink spaces for washing your dishes. The showers take a 20cent coin so are not free but they are still good showers, you may have a bit of a wait if you stay there at their peak time but it is generally not too bad as they have two shower blocks. The bathroom has nice big mirrors with a hair dryer at every mirror so it is great to get yourself ready for the day. You don't really need to leave the holiday park as there are nice walks that you can go on and the lake to go swimming, and there are playgrounds and trampolines for the kids to play on. The one time we stayed there the rowing competitions were on so the lake was closed to swimmers, but there are other lakes in close proximity that you can drive to as well. All in all I would highly recommend this holiday park and will definitely stay there again once my son is a bit older and will enjoy camping. |
